LATEST ANNOUNCEMENTS

It’s hard to believe we’ve already completed a full year since launching the 2024-27 Strategic Plan for LFCS. On March 30th, our stakeholder group gathered to review Year 1 progress and assess how the plan is shaping up as we head into Year 2. Moving forward, I’ll be highlighting areas throughout the school year where we’re making a positive impact in our school, parish, and community. I’ll also outline specific changes parents, parishioners, students, and community members can expect in 2025-26. For now, I’d like to focus on three key initiatives we’re either advancing or launching as we close out this year and prepare for the next.

Building the LFCS Endowment Fund

We soft-launched this effort during Catholic Schools Week, and even with minimal promotion, the support has been overwhelming. As of today, we’ve raised just over $77,000 for the Endowment—nearing our three-year goal of $100,000 in only one year! This is a remarkable start, but there’s more to do. In the coming months, we’ll sharpen our focus on this initiative and share updates as we go.

Creating an Individualized Approach to Math Instruction

Our leveled Literacy Block Instruction has transformed how we approach literacy, and now we’re ready to bring that success to math. With a new staff position added for 2025-26, we’re equipped to tailor math instruction to each student’s skill level, identifying where they are and helping them grow from there. As we refine this process, I’ll keep families informed about how it works, why it matters, and how our team will bring it to life.

Reducing Technology Dependence in the Classroom

The Strategic Plan called for examining technology’s role in our classrooms and shifting toward a more classical learning approach. This might sound counterintuitive at first, but data and trends show that excessive tech use, especially in younger grades, can negatively impact students in multiple ways. For a compelling take on this, I recommend this 19-minute YouTube video, recorded just a few months ago. I’ll dive deeper into this topic as we continue refining how we use technology thoughtfully and effectively.

As always, thank you for your unwavering support of our school. God bless,

Mr. Leier
